The wood is yellow darkening to yellow brown with age. Lustrous surface. It does not have clearly demarcated sapwood. Very wide sapwood. The grain is straight and the texture is fine. Density at 12 % moisture content: 0.70 g/cm3.
The blunting effect is normal and peeling and slicing is reported to be good. Sometimes irritant sawdust. Nailing is good and gluing is correct. Haldu dries normal. Some tendency to split during air drying.
Haldu is moderately durable to fungi and is susceptible to dry wood borers; sapwood not or slightly demarcated (risk in all the wood).
Haldu can be used for several applications:
Interior: e.g. furniture, stairs, panelling, flooring, veneer, boxes and crates, pencils, joinery, sliced veneer, cigar boxes, light carpentry
