While working as divisional forest officer in Tawang the author moved around the district and interacted with the common people and saw them from close. He always desired to reach those people who are hidden behind the far away mountains. This book is about the people of tall mountains about whom the outside world knows little. Section I of the book deals with the basic information of the people religion culture and places and Section II deals with the myths beliefs and ritual practices of the Monpas and also describes the natural beauties of the area.
